Your check-ins belong to you.

What we save

When you sign in and check in, BEFORE saves the date, your answers about mood, the previous night’s sleep, energy, and connection, and any optional check-in reflection with your BEFORE account identifier (or your earlier sign-in identifier if you used the original early-access version). Standalone journal entries are also saved with your account. If you choose a next step, we save its text and any later response about whether you tried it. RENY receives that step as context only if you select the optional sharing box. This lets you see your history on another device. The app does not connect to your phone sensors or monitor you in the background.

What the owner sees

The admin dashboard shows check-in totals and distinct account counts. It does not display individual answers or journal entries. The site operator manages the storage that holds the check-ins. Your companion name, chosen color, and preferred display name are saved with your account. The greeting conversation is not saved to your account. You can remove saved next steps individually on your dashboard or delete them with your account. If enhanced conversation and voice are enabled, your typed or transcribed messages and recent chat context are sent to the AI provider for replies, and the companion’s text is sent for speech generation. Browser microphone transcription may also use your device provider. Microphone use and spoken replies are optional.

Memories, follow-ups, and Our Story

Only items you explicitly save are retained for continuity. Optional long-term memory starts off. Settings lets you disable retrieval, edit or delete memories, and choose reminder preferences. Follow-ups are used for next-day conversations independently of optional memory. Our Story contains only approved moments. Saved context and today’s check-in may be sent to the AI provider for personalized replies. The owner’s retention analytics contain event counts and cohorts, not private text. Deleted memories are excluded from future retrieval; they may still be visible in a currently open conversation. Notifications can expose topic text on your device: each follow-up has its own reminder permission. Notifications currently require BEFORE to be open; closed-app delivery is not connected.

Optional adult community

The community is for members who self-report being 18 or older. Date of birth is checked when joining and is not stored. Your public avatar and chosen handle are separate from your real name, check-ins, and journal. Lounge messages can be read by other community members; accepted friends can exchange private messages. Members can report or block others. The owner can review reports and remove messages. Do not share identifying or sensitive details in community messages. You may leave the community to delete your profile, messages, and connections.

Delete your history

Use “Delete my check-ins” on the check-in page to remove saved answers and check-in reflections, Use the Journal page to delete individual standalone entries, or delete your BEFORE account from Account to remove that account, its check-ins, journal entries, next steps, and companion settings. You can download a copy of your data from Account first. Signing out does not delete them. If you used the earlier sign-in method, those check-ins remain under that identity until you choose to transfer them. If you used the earlier browser-only prototype, those local entries are separate and are not automatically transferred to your account.
